Helsner, Helle.
A Trinity of Giving: Érna - Érnai - Éraind [From the Series: "Messages from the Divine Feminine Landscape"]
Three Bronzes in the rugged and raw Landscape of Allihies, each symbolizing a descendant of the People who came before them, called Iverni, now carrying an Element from their Environment, taken from this Ancient Land in their Womb and therefore connecting to the Inherent and Divine Feminine Landscape; a Landscape which, like a Mother, keeps on giving. Érna – “Where I saw You” [Bronze with silver cast sample (24 cm high on 5 cm Block)] Érnai – “Fertile Infertility” [Bronze carrying Anna caorach [Sheep Droppings] (28 cm high on 5 cm Block)] Éraind – “Core” [Bronze carrying Bronze & Iron Shavings (29 cm high on 5 cm Block)] West Cork, 2022. Three Bronze Sculptures, between 24 cm and 29 cm high, mounted on Wooden Base. When first confronted with Helle Helsner’s Sculpture-Group “Trinity of Giving – Érna – Érnai – Éraind”, you instantly realize that here an artist has clearly and consciously departed from the shiny, easily persuasive element of traditional Bronze casting, where touching the texture of the result is like caressing the familiar cheek of a loved one. These three ancient Iverni are immersed in their Landscape, they honour it and demand distance and respect through the fragility of their structure. In setting up this meeting with Érna – Érnai – Éraind, Helle Helsner allows us a glimpse into the legendary past of those before us and the visible deterioration in their structure is nothing else than a reminder of our impermanence. During the immediate, wretched exposure to the raw landscape, during the wounded and frightful moving through a world which provided only questions and no answers and yet you still had to persevere…..the connection with the Mother, the Earth, was the only constant, the only promise always kept. These three are true Messengers from this ancient, divine Landscape.
